Sprinx Systems a.s. and Humusoft s.r.o. enter into strategic partnership for HPC and solutions

Prague, 14 January 2008

Sprinx and Humusoft have concluded a strategic partnership for providing systems and solutions for high-performance computing based on cluster computation technology and the products Matlab and COMSOL Multiphysics.

The main aim of the partnership is to provide professional services to users requiring extremely high computation performance that ordinary workstations are not able to provide, while retaining a high level of interactivity, speed, and user friendliness. Such a solution provides significant time savings in both the development cycle and the target application itself and is fully performance scalable according to the user’s current needs.

The modern HPC systems provided by Sprinx Systems, which run on either the Microsoft Windows Computing Cluster Server 2003 operating system or the Linux operating system, together with the products Matlab and COMSOL Multiphysics, can be used for the following applications:

  • High-Performance Computing (scientific-technical and financial calculations, simulation and modelling)
  • Parallel algorithm development
  • Parallel FEM computations
  • Distributed computations
  • Analysis and advanced visualisation of high volume data
  • Integration of HPC solutions with the required user environment (e.g. Excel or Web)

The close cooperation between HUMUSOFT s.r.o.—which is the distributor of the MATLAB a COMSOL Multiphysics programmes—and Sprinx Systems—which has extensive and long-term experience with designing, operating, and integrating HPC systems—will guarantee that the performance of these solutions will be fully verified and optimised to allow users to utilise their investment to the maximum extent possible, while retaining the high dependability and accessibility of computation resources.

Sprinx Systems a.s., as the HPC system integrator, offers a broad spectrum of HPC systems and solutions: from small, quiet and low-energy computation clusters (up to 40 computation cores) suitable for offices, through mid-size systems (up to 128-256 computation cores), to large computation clusters (up to 1024 computation cores). These systems are based on the newest HW, SW, and network HPC technologies and, as such, can respond flexibly to both the user’s financial possibilities and the user’s technical requirements. An essential part of this is the integration of the solutions with the user’s IT infrastructure to allow this infrastructure to behave transparently and to minimise further demands on and costs of its administration and operation.

“Partnership with Humusoft will make it possible for us to provide HPC solutions with the ability to respond to the specific needs of users who are trying to solve more and more computationally complex and sophisticated problems or who demand a highly flexible platform for development and operation of sophisticated applications,” said Michal Kvasnička, Director of the HPC Department of Sprinx Systems. “We want to show users how simple and beneficial the transfer to HPC technologies, which will soon become a normal part of IT infrastructures, is,” says Jiří Čáp, Managing Director of Sprinx Systems, about this partnership.

“The MATLAB and COMSOL systems make it possible to solve complex mathematical and multiphysical tasks in the multiprocessor station and computer cluster environments. Joining these computing instruments with the HPC solutions provided by Sprinx Systems will fundamentally expand their application possibilities in extensive, computationally and data-demanding tasks,” said Petr Byron, Managing Director of Humusoft.

About Sprinx Systems

Sprinx Systems is the leading producer and supplier of business administration systems focused in particular on customer relationship management (CRM). The company’s high-performance computing (HPC) department focuses on supercomputers and their use not only in the scientific sector but also for clients in the commercial sector. The company has been a successful player on the market already since 1996 (until 2002 under the name SPRINX s.r.o.), and its products and solutions are used by numerous customers both in the Czech Republic and abroad. About HUMUSOFT

HUMUSOFT s.r.o. is a Czech limited liability company established in 1990. Since its foundation, the company has been dividing its energy equally among the production, sale, and servicing of equipment and programmes. The company’s areas of interest include control technology, information technology, scientific and technological software, and simulation of technological and economic processes. The company’s main objective is to provide comprehensive services to customers. This means not only sales, but first and foremost user services of the highest level, services tailored to each client’s needs, and maximum speed and propriety in addressing its clients’ requirements.  HUMUSOFT s.r.o. is the exclusive representative in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic of the American company The MathWorks (computation environments and simulation instruments MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow) and the Swedish company COMSOL (COMSOL Multiphysics – an instrument for modelling and simulating multiphysical processes). In the Czech and Slovak Republics, HUMUSOFT s.r.o. also represents dSPACE (development systems for control and simulation in real time), NAG - Numerical Algorithms Group (instruments for numerical, symbolic, and statistical computations, parallel computations, and simulation and visualisation of data), Lanner Group (software for simulation and analysis of business processes) and others.
